1st Day. – Arrival to Cusco:

Detailed Itinerary for Inti Raymi Tour
1 day. – Arrival to Cusco & City Tour:
Today you’ll arrive at Cusco airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign with your name, then we will transfer you to the selected hotel, where you will rest and get some coca tea (recommendable for the altitude). In the afternoon (1:00pm) we’ll pick you up your hotel to start the tour of the city and its surroundings. We’ll visit the center of the ancient city of Cusco, the “Plaza de Armas”, the cathedral, the monastery of Santo Domingo, the Koricancha temple and the nearby ruins of Kenqo, Puca Pucará, Tambomachay and the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built with enormous rocks which remain until now a mobilization and a use of these, there are no stone quarries in the region. The tour ends at 6:30pm next to the main square in order that you can enjoy your dinner.
2th day. – Inti Raymi Tour:
Today the tour begins at 8:00 am, with the transfer from the hotel to Koricancha (The temple of the sun of the Incas); the transfer is on food because today is not aloow car in the city.
The INTI RAYMI festival has three different scenes in three different places, starting at the Inca Temple of koricancha on the Avenida “El sol” here the festival last for one hour: then we walk to the main square (Plaza de Armas del Cusco) where the second scene takes place and finally ends with the extraordinary and larger scene held in Sacsayhuaman (3 km from Cusco), where we will move by bus. The ceremony ends at 4:00pm approximately after that we’ll transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

The Inca Inti Raymi Festival was created by the ninth Inca called «Tupac Inca Yupanki», but his name was changed to «Inca Pachacutec», who was one of the greatest conquerors of the Inca Empire. Pachacutec took the small kingdom centered on Cusco and transformed it into a massive empire that stretched across the Andes.
His kingdom was from 1438 to 1471 and during this time he celebrated his achievements and solidified his position as the son of Inti (Sun), launched the first celebration of Inti Raymi with his wife, who symbolized the legendary Mama Ocllo.
To appreciate better the Inti Raymi festival, the following tips are important:
► EARLY ARRIVALS: residents arrive in a few hours at the Church of Santo Domingo, the Plaza de Armas and Sacsayhuaman to ensure an optimal place to see the procession.
